I like this movie. … I like this movie. I like it because it shows that race doesn’t matter, and even though their is racism in the world a white can still be excepted in a black family and just because someone doesnt share the same etnicity as you doesn’t mean you can’t be friends.
but it does how … but it does how ever, cause people to think, and realize what they were once ignorant about! so really any type of argument, that is if it is an authentic argument has a purpose and is working towards getting the individuals arguing to agree on one mutual thing..
I can think of … I can think of movie after movie featuring depraved whites juxtaposed to caring, altruistic blacks. You should imagine how the world would be if all the movies like this one were flipped- where the depraved, sexually deviant whites were replaced with depraved, deviant blacks while the whites were without fail depicted as caring and normal. Would you not find such a continual lopsided depiction vilifying blacks offensive, regardless of the inevitable good blacks also depicted?
Lisa, I know my … Lisa, I know my comment is an unwelcome guest and you are right, any movie showing a caring family is worth applauding, at least to that extent. However, where you seem approving of the black sisterhood you are strangely silent at yet another depiction of a depraved, abusing, abnormal white family. Of course white or black there are such families, so why must I be so rude as to interject my statistics? Because those are the statistics that represent the REAL victims of violence/rape/robbery etc.
My perspective? … My perspective? What perspective? Giving people uncomfortable facts that dont fit with their media-created fantasies? Note how merely stating the truth makes me evil. Why? Because we have been conditioned by a media-generated but now culturally established norm that allows whites to be portrayed as racist/evil (and molesters, etc.) but anything indicating something negative about another race is cause to recoil in horror. TV/movies perpetuate this while reality tells a very different story.
A movie teaching us … A movie teaching us to take shelter from black people? What kind of statement is that? I will tell you. It is a hateful statement. People on this website continue to amaze me.
Your statistics are not the issue. The girl in the film obviously found a caring family. Does the media have bias, and does Hollywood make stupid films with agendas? Yes, but showing people caring about each other is an okay subject in my book any day. The

What, at Bear River … What, at Bear River High? If you read the last couple comments you would see I rescinded my initial one, I’m obviously NOT denying those stats anymore. I haven’t done any research. I’m not ok with Nudiford’s perspective, not the stats I know little about. Yeesh.
And I wasn’t … And I wasn’t referring to law enforcement, I was referring to the intense stigma of shame that is related to rape and the women who don’t report it b/c of that shame.
Ok, very weak … Ok, very weak argument yes I fully admit. I honestly have no clue what he statistics are for the states. I was reacting to your contempt of this movie coming out. And your view that black people are not to be trusted (or taken shelter with), and inherently more violent than Caucasians? Is that right?
I remember seeing … I remember seeing her in a movie with Charlize Theron and I think she might have only been like 6 in that movie, but honestly for every movie I’ve seen her in she is a great young actress.
And by the way; if … And by the way; if crimes like rape within families are often not reported, yet we know that blacks are committing rapes at many times the white rate among those rapes that are reported, what does this say about the likelihood that rapes of incest are also higher within black communities than white? I know logic is only allowed to go one way on this race thing, but perhaps you should take a moment to consider the truth.
You’re so … You’re so intelligent Carmen. When someone says something you dont like you respond with, Uh, thats not accurate. A devastating argument! Please, since my stats are based on victim reports from around the country, victims who can well identify themselves and know very well who robbed/raped/assaulted them, please explain your conspiracy theory of why law enforcement refuses to keep reports on crimes committed by whites. “Officer, I was raped!” -”Oh, he was white? I can’t report it.”
Not that I agree … Not that I agree with him but that’s a really weak argument, dude. Yea I bet a lot of those offenses don’t get reported but that goes for both sides of it. The percentage gap between black on white raped and white on black rape is still going to be relatively close to that if you count all the rape crimes reported and not reported. Not that you could count the ones that aren’t reported but if you could, the percentage gap wouldn’t be that much different.
Wow… b/c those … Wow… b/c those statistics are so accurate. Ever think maybe a huge chunk of those offenses never get reported? You should be ashamed, your ignorance is showing.
Finally, a movie … Finally, a movie teaching us to take shelter with black people, who commit murder at 7 times the white rate and robbery at 8 times. Who, according to the US Dept of Justice between 2001-03 committed 15,400 black-on-white rapes per year, while whites averaged only 900 white-on-black rapes per year. Bravo! The media turning reality on its head again… and finally teaching us to avoid arrogant white racism!
i hope she doesn’t … i hope she doesn’t end up like the kid from “The 6th sense” once he got bigger and Grew ridiculously Tall, he hasnt been in a lot of Movies and Good ones at that
THAT’S Dakota … THAT’S Dakota Fanning? Aw, she’s a big kid now! ^_~
I’m excited to see this movie though, because the book was so wonderful, and I really hope the movie lives up to it.
omg dakota fanning … omg dakota fanning is like my favorite actress i have seen every movie of hers i would die if i could see her and she and i r only like 2 weeks apart
