I've played the single-player Warcraft III back in 2002 or 2003 when it came out. Now I want to see what all the hype about World of Warcraft is about. So how does it work?

I went to the local game store and they had more than one version. One was called "World of Warcraft" and the other was called "World of Warcraft", with a subtitle.

So which one is it? Or can I just get it online? What's the difference between these?

World of Warcraft is the main edition of the game. World of Warcraft "Burning Crusades" is the first expansion. World of Warcraft "Wrath of the Lich King" is the second expansion. You should only buy the first one right off the bat if your just trying it out. You can download the trial version for free from World of Warcraft.com which will allow you to play for 10 days. You will be slightly restricted with the trial such as trading with other players and other such things but it will be more than enough to get you started for sure. It can be a bit slow and frustrating at first but after you progress a bit and learn more about your character you should enjoy this game. Hope you have fun.

there is the original world of warcraft and 2 other expansions following the original. you can purchase just the first original game and play but you will have limits on what you can do until you update to the first and second expansion. i think you should download the free trial and see if you like it (which you probably will). good luck to you. god bless

You have to buy the normal game first, the game with the subtitle was probably an expansion. You need to install World of Warcraft first and when you get to 60 you'll have to get the Burning Crusade to get to 70 and when you get to 70 you'll have to get the Wrath of the Lich King.

World of Warcraft is the main game.

The ones with "World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King" are the expansion packs for the game.

You can get them both (the expansion packs along with the game) online. You can download it from the main site. However you still need to pay for the expansion packs. If you are looking to play I'd recommend the Battle Chest, they have one for WCIII so you should be familiar.

You can also try it WoW with the 10 day free trial on the main website..
